Sonic Fuel

I Will Rise (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

Sonic Fuel is a Tennessee based rock band, and this is their new single. These guys (at least with this song) don't seem to be trying to reinvent the wheel or create a particularly unique sound. Instead, their intent seems to deliver a potent rocker that is meaty and accessible. With those victory conditions in mind, they are particularly successful.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 4. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.

Track by Track Review
I Will Rise
A driving hard rocking arrangement opens this track. As it drops back to a more stripped down arrangement for the vocals, it feels a bit like the classic rock oriented stuff from the 1990s. They bring it back up for the accessible chorus. This is effective music that combines modern alternative rock with a real classic, timeless rock music texture. The guitar solo is tasty.
