A Pale Horse Named Death - And Hell Will Follow Me
Review by Gary Hill

This group seems destined to have fans right out of the gate.

A Perfect Murder - Strength Through Vengeance
Review by Travis Jensen
Have you been wondering what to do with that void in your musical life since Pantera has disbanded and will probably never play as a group ever again? Well, this is your band to take the place of what was one of the most influential metal bands of the 90’s.

Abramis Brama - Live
Review by Gary Hill
Swedish stoner rock – who woulda thunked it? Well, that's what Abramis Brama are.

So, you say you like classic rock/old school metal by bands like Mountain, Black Sabbath and Captain Beyond? Well, you're sure to like this one, then.

Absolution - The Revelation Diaries
Review by Travis Jensen
With the changing direction of the music industry today, you are almost always faced with dilemmas of what to do when it comes to selecting music; online downloads, MP3’s, IPOD’s, etc. have literally turned purchasing music upside down, and with more negative effects to those who have to make a living at it.

Accept - Stalingrad
Review by Mike Korn

I am constantly amazed at the energy and fire of metal bands that have been around for 20, even 30 years.

Acid FM - Justified American Music
Review by G. W. Hill

There’s quite an intriguing blend of sounds here.

Age of Evil - Get Dead EP
Review by Gary Hill
This EP shows an intriguing sound from an interesting band. The group seems to flirt around with a lot of different sounds including classic metal, nu-metal, hardcore, thrash and even technical metal.

Aina - Days of Rising Doom-The Metal Opera
Review by Mike Korn
On the surface, the worlds of heavy metal and opera would appear to have little in common. But dig deep and you will find a lot of common threads binding the two musical genres.

Akercocke - Choronzon
Review by Mike Korn
They say the Devil has the best music, but judging by the sartorial sense of Britain's Akercocke, he also has a pretty good wardrobe. Instead of opting for the usual spiked leather and chains, these fellows favor smartly tailored three-piece suits while engaging in their blasphemy.

Alabama Thunderpussy - Open Fire
Review by Mike Korn

A picture of a raging barbarian on an album cover has been an indicator of quality on heavy metal and Southern rock albums for many years now and Open Fire proves no exception, boasting a Kelly Freas classic. In fact, this record is bursting with so much fire and grit that I defy any fan of hard music to keep from bouncing around the room and making wild air guitar gestures. This one lays the smack down real hard!

Alchemist - Organasm
Review by Mike Korn
It may sound like a hoary cliche, but this is one of those records that comes along only once in a great while. From the far shores of Australia, Alchemist are truly one of the most original heavy metal bands I've heard.

Alestorm - Leviathan EP
Review by Rick Damigella
(Editor’s note: While September 19th is Speak Like A Pirate Day, any day is a good day to do so if you are talking about Alestorm)

Alhazred - Dead before Dawn (Digital Single)
Review by G. W. Hill
There are some weird voices and sound effects to start this off, but then very atmospheric music comes in to create the start of the real music.

Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way to Blue
Review by Bill Knispel
With the death of singer/guitarist Layne Staley in 1992, prospects for new Alice in Chains material seemed bleak indeed.

All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals
Review by Travis Jensen
Do you like Killswitch Engaged? So do I.

Allen-Lande - The Revenge
Review by Greg Olma
This 2nd collaboration between Russell Allen (Symphony X) and Jorn Lande (Masterplan) is one of the best releases I have gotten my hands on in I don't know how long.  Both guys are great singers but it's the material that is what is really impressive here.

Amon Amarth - With Oden on our Side
Review by Bill Knispel
With Oden On Our Side is the sixth full-length album from Swedish melodic/Viking death metal band Amon Amarth. Released in late 2006 on Metal Blade Records, the album paints a far more extreme musical picture than previous efforts, notably heavier than their previous album, Fate of Norns.

Android Meme - Ordo Ab Chao
Review by Gary Hill

I originally had this slated for the progressive rock side of Music Street Journal, but in retrospect, it really doesn’t fit there.

Angel Witch - Resurrection
Review by Mike Korn
Just how many albums are there called “Resurrection”? I've already got Halford's “Resurrection” as well as Venom's. Are Milli Vanilli going to be coming out with a “Resurrection” album soon?

Angra - Rebirth
Review by Mike Korn
Most associate Brazil with Sepultura and Krisiun, but Angra proves that there's more to the land of the Amazon than nu-metal bashing and screaming death metal. Angra is a long-running progressive/melodic heavy metal band that has carved a fair little niche for itself.

Angra - Aqua
Review by Gary Hill

Angra’s version of heavy metal often falls near the realm of progressive rock.

Annihilator - Metal
Review by Eric Meli
I have been a Jeff Waters fan from the early days of Annihilator so it should come as no surprise that I have been anxiously awaiting this release.  Pre-release information hinted at an “old school metal” vibe to the new material and then I heard about the special guest list which included a “who’s who” of the new metal breed.
More
Annihilator - Schizo Deluxe
Review by Greg Olma
Annihilator should be up there with the big 4 of thrash. Jeff Waters has been and will always be considered Annihilator.

Annihilator - Carnival Diablos
Review by Arnold Hablewitz
Honestly, I've enjoyed all of the offerings that have come from Jeff Waters and co. They all are unique in their own way, yet they are all so closely related to each other that you can instantly tell two things…number 1, that it is definitely an Annihilator record, and number 2, that Jeff prefers to stay true to his thrash metal roots.

Anthrax - Among The Living
Review by Patrick Hennen
I realize that this is an older disc, released in 1990. However, with the reunion of this powerful lineup for this year's tour, I had to say something about them.

Anthrax - Worship Music
Review by Mike Korn

After a decade of disaster, this was pretty much the album Anthrax had to make in order to rescue their career.

Antiquus - Eleutheria
Review by Mike Korn
Antiquus is a peculiar name for a band but I suggest you make a place for it in your mental filing cabinet. You're going to be hearing a lot more of it in the years to come.

Anubis Gate - Andromeda Unchained
Review by Greg Olma
Locomotive seems to be the home for many quality metal bands and Anubis Gate is no different. This is my first taste of the band and I must say that I am really impressed.

Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin
Review by Mike Korn
They say anticipation makes the heart grow fonder. If that's the case, metal fans should be looking forward to the latest Arch Enemy record Wages of Sin" with unmatched adoration.

Asphyx - Death The Brutal Way
Review by Mike Korn
In the 90's, no band on Earth was heavier than Holland's Asphyx.

Astral Doors - Evil Is Forever
Review by Gary Hill
When you review CD's like I do, you get to hear a lot of new music. The law of averages would tell you that only a handful will be terrible, and only a handful will be spectacular.
More
Astral Doors - Astralism
Review by Gary Hill
OK, so this doesn't break any new ground musically. It's very much in the old school metal mode in the style of Dio (and the vocals are almost an exact match).

Atkins / May Project - Serpent’s Kiss
Review by G. W. Hill

Al Atkins is probably best known as the original lead singer in Judas Priest.

Atkins / May Project - Valley of Shadows
Review by G. W. Hill

When this outfit released their last set, I was under-whelmed by it.

Al Atkins - Demon Deceiver – The Sin Sessions
Review by Gary Hill
Let’s get one point out there right away, Al Atkins was the lead singer of Judas Priest before Rob Halford. That puts him in the formative period before the group recorded.

Atreyu - The Curse
Review by Josh Turner
Atreyu is one of the hottest bands in Nu Metal. With The Curse, they release an album that is completely on fire. They accomplish something very few bands are capable of achieving.

Autumn Rest - Poems From the Fire
Review by Gary Hill
Autumn Rest is Chad Belteau, Kevin Belteau, and Joey Landry. This release combines very diverse elements, being the first release that I have heard that mixes progressive rock themes with the stylings of such performers as Nine Inch Nails. This album is certainly not for every progressive rock fan, but for the more adventurous, (who are looking for something new), it should be a pleasant change of pace.

Avantasia - Lost in Space, Vols. 1 & 2
Review by Gary Hill
Avantasia is a side project of Edguy’s Tobais Sammel. He’s joined here by Sascha Paeth and Eric Singer.

Axxis - Doom Of Destiny
Review by Greg Olma
This is my first exposure to Axxis but with a little research, I found out that they have been around since 1989.  They have a dozen albums already yet it seems I have been in the dark this whole time.
