Michael Vincent

Electric Fox

Review by Gary Hill

This album lands somewhere in the shared space between alternative rock and singer-songwriter music. While there are no molds broken here, this is some effective music on the set. The first four tracks are performed by Michael Vincent with his band U No Who. I think I tend to prefer the other section over that part. Your mileage may vary, though. Either way, there is some solid, if somewhat generic, music here.

Track by Track Review
Together

This is a pretty basic singer-songwriter rocker with plenty of Americana built into it. It’s a fun romp and does get into some fairly hard rocking territory at times.

Fool, My Eye

There is an indie, almost punky edge to this rocker. Beyond that, it’s not a big departure from the previous tune.

The Longest Time

While there is no big change here, this one feels a little clunky to me. I suppose that lends a DIY charm, but I don’t think this one works as well as the two openers did.

Last Summer

This one reminds me a little of The Byrds. There are some California soft rock angles at play here at times.

Living Room

A little edgier and harder rocking, this is also one of the most effective things here. I’d consider it a highlight of the set.

In a Whisper

Another solid rocker, this isn’t at the same level as the last tune, but it’s still among the best here.

(Kinda Like) Forever

This one doesn’t work as well for me. It’s not bad, or a huge change. It just doesn’t seem to gel quite as well. That said, the instrumental section later is so cool.

Travel

There is almost an America kind of sound on this tune. It’s another standout number. In fact, this might be my favorite thing here.
