Donovan Plant

Donovan Plant and the Leafs - Night Feel Good

Review by Gary Hill

There is a real classic element at play on this EP. The music fits somewhere in the same zone as Tom Petty. Added to that is a DIY kind of element, particularly on two songs. That lends a slightly unpolished and slightly "off" vibe. Rather than detract, though, it lends a certain genuine charm. This works pretty well, and I'd like to hear more from this San Francisco based artist.

Grow
There is a DIY vibe to this cut. It has a good energy and works pretty well. That said, there are some awkward angles to it, but those are more of a charm than detriment.
Night Feel Good
This balladic cut reminds me of Tom Petty to some degree. It's slow moving and pretty classy. There is a real classic rock vibe to this, and I love the keyboard textures over the top. This is definitely a step up from the opener.
White Wolf
We're more rocking now. This is cool stuff, and it has some intriguing shifts and changes. It has a little of that awkward charm, too.
