Peter Frampton

FCA 35 Tour: An Evening With Peter Frampton BluRay

Review by Gary Hill

It’s pretty tough to review this and not just say, “run out right now and buy this thing.” Yes, it is that good. I have to say that I’m not a huge fan of Peter Frampton, but this BluRay has me rethinking that. Sure, I remember spinning the vinyl when I was a kid – in those days everyone had Frampton Comes Alive. I remember at one point a friend who dealt in used records told me, “Those things are so common you have to sell them by the pound.” It was pretty much true, though, everyone had it. It’s hard to believe that this tour was the 35th Anniversary of that classic album. Well, Frampton certainly doesn’t look the same, but he sure sounds great. I have to say that after seeing this set, I want to go catch Frampton live. He puts on a great show and the sound and video on this thing are great. By now, everyone probably knows the story of the long lost guitar he calls “The Phoenix.” Even CNN covered it. But, there’s a little short documentary here that talks about it, and I thought that bonus bit was great. If you’ve ever liked Peter Frampton, you must have this. If you never really gave him a chance, this is a great introduction.
