Terry Bozzio

Live With the Tosca Strings DVD

Review by Gary Hill

Those who come here on a quest for rock music will probably be disappointed. The music presented here is amazing. It is classically oriented and yet jazzy. It does rock, but other than Bozzio’s drumming and a bass we really get no “rock” instrumentation. What we do get is an incredible performance. I absolutely love the music this group produces. It is creative and entertaining. It is catchy and yet surprising. What more can you ask for? Every musician here is great, but Bozzio’s drum kit is such a centerpiece of the stage – and his playing is such an integral part of the performance. This must have been a magical thing to experience. For those who weren’t lucky enough to be here this DVD captures it with excellence both in the visual and the audio recording.  One thing that you will definitely know after watching this film is that Terry Bozzio is one of the best drummers out there and he has taken some great creative work with this outfit.
