The Jersey White boys took the stage and just devastated the crowd. The place was packed with Overkill fans, and the crowd sure didn’t disappoint either. There were vicious mosh pits all the way through their set. You could just feel the excitement level rise during the first few beats of the first song. They played a lot of new stuff from their newly released Electric Age CD, which was just awesome to hear live. They also did not skimp on playing old stuff. Favorites such as “Deny the Cross” and their famous encore song “F*** You” just hammered the crowd and were played out with perfection. They also surprised us with one of my personal favorites, “Old School,” which is a great punk metal drinking song. Many glasses were raised in cheers during that number. Blitz Ellsworth and company sure did not disappoint during the entire set. For being over 50 years old, he sure has not slowed down at all. He still maintains a huge stage presence and does not slow down during their long set. Of course, Dave Linsk (lead guitar) and D.D. Verni were no slouches, either. They played with absolute perfection and fury. Their newer guitar player, Derek "The Skull" Tailer, was just hamming it up for the photographers and was so animated he made me chuckle at times. Their newer drummer, Ron Lipnicki, was surely no disappointment either and can keep up with all the brutal Overkill beats from both old and new songs. |
