Candlelight Red

Demons

Review by Gary Hill

In some ways, this reminds me a lot of Tool. Mind you, that is only really a major reference on one song, but the overall feel of creative, heavy rock fits all four of the songs here. Yet, each track is quite different from the others. This set is quite cool and I’d love to hear more from these guys.

Track by Track Review
Demons
Percussion leads out here and then it comes in heavy and very cool. It drops down for the verses and the vocals are really strong. This thing just oozes cool. It’s modern, but classic at the same time. It’s heavy and yet melodic. This just plain rocks.
Cutter

They waste no time pounding in here, but drop it down to mellower modes for the verse. There’s sort of a modern metal sound to everything here, but I can almost make out some Tool on this cut.

Lifeless

While this is clearly the same band, it’s definitely different. I love the hook on the chorus. This is heavy, yet quite accessible.

Sleeping Awake
This one starts as a ballad and grows out very gradually. It has a mystical, soaring kind of arrangement at times. This stays mellow through much of the length, but the power created by the melody and emotion is amazing. Then when it does power out, it’s like the fulfillment of the promise made throughout the rest of the cut.
