Starry Eyed and Laughing

Live at Rockpalast 1976 DVD and CD set

Review by Gary Hill

I had never heard of this band before getting this set. They were a cool Americana group. This is supposedly the only live video of them ever captured. They perform a cool set that consists of psychedelia, folk, country, Americana and more. They were probably most influenced by the folk music of the 1960s, but there are plenty of other things here. This set includes a DVD and two CDs. The DVD was recorded for German television, so while not up to modern HD Standards, the video quality is quite good for the time period. The first CD includes the music on audio CD. The second consists of studio recordings of the songs performed in the show along with a couple bonus tracks. This is well worth having from an archival perspective. It's also worthwhile as an entertaining performance worth experiencing.
