Slipknot

Day of the Gusano DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This is part live concert video and part documentary. The documentary part comes from clips of fans talking and such. The real key here, though is that concert footage. This is a show in Mexico City in December of 2015. The video and audio are both quite good. I have to say that I was not a fan of Slipknot before this set, and am still not really a fan, but I can appreciate them more than I could before. I doubt this will make them any new fans. Their version of extreme metal and theatrical performance is not for everyone. It's not intended to be, really. This obviously is for the fans. I would have to guess that they would love it. It's well done. In addition to the DVD, they include a CD of the music. If you are a fan of Slipknot you will probably enjoy this a lot. If you haven't really heard them and like extreme theatrical metal, this might be a great way to sample this act.
