Charlie Daniels

Live At Rockpalast DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This concert was recorded in 1980 and it could be argued that was the peak of success for the Charlie Daniels Band. The group were on fire in concert. A couple points become obvious when watching this, though. These guys were all southern boys, with all the connotations. They were also incredible musicians. Their performance includes a lot of their best songs and they were really playing well. The sound at times leaves something to be desired and the video, while made for television, isn’t up to modern standards. I’m particularly annoyed with the song titles being displayed on the screen. Still, this is quite a cool concert video of a great band.
