Black Metal Satanica DVD

Review by Gary Hill

Who knew that black metal’s roots dates back to the Vikings. That’s one of the things you’ll learn from this documentary. I love the style of this film. It feels like a mock documentary horror film. This does a good job of shining a light on the dark recesses of music that represent Scandinavian black metal. There aren’t a lot of musical performances in this, but plenty of interview segments. This will really do a great job of giving the viewer an better understanding of the musical scene that is Black Metal.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2008  Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.
