The Chieftains

Live Over Ireland – Water From The Well DVD

Review by Gary Hill

With the title of this DVD one might think they are getting a concert video. That’s not what this is, so perhaps that’s the first thing we should clear up. Instead what we have is a behind the scenes look at this legendary group of musicians that is more like a documentary. There is live footage included here, but you definitely wouldn’t consider it a concert film per se. This was originally released a few years ago and is just now being reissued. For those who like Celtic music, but have yet to check out the Chieftains it is highly recommended as a course in The Chieftains 101, Those with a more casual interest in the group will also gain a deeper appreciation from this DVD. Hardcore fans probably don’t need any nudging to pick this up. They’ve probably had it since the first time it was released.
