ChthoniC

A Decade on the Throne (DVD and CD’s)

Review by Gary Hill

This is an incredible package! I really mean that in every sense of the word. We’ll start by looking at the packaging itself. Rather than put this in the standard plastic DVD case what we get actually resembles a hard cover book. In fact, when I received this promo that’s what I thought they had sent me – until I opened it that is. This thing is just a quality presentation from beginning to end.

Digging inside we find a DVD of a concert performance from the band, The show, filmed in Taiwan, is from 2000 and features a huge chunk of the band’s trademarked extreme dark metal. These guys really know how to do it well and it shows in this live video. They can turn melodic at times and include some traditional Taiwanese music in the mix. They keep the crowd captivate throughout the show and the video and audio are both quite good. If that weren’t enough they also include a double CD set of the music from the video. I just can’t stress enough how classy this package is. I am so impressed! It’s a great first taste of ChthoniC and an excellent collector’s item for any fan’s collection. It’s class all the way.
