Patrick Ames

Reawakened 2020 (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

Patrick Ames' political goals for this song are obvious. Fans of the current occupant of the White House might have a problem with that. I don't take sides in political debates like this, or comment on them, but in this case I do acknowledge it. I'm a music reviewer and not a political commentator, so I leave that up the each person's judgment. Just looking at the music here, this is a powerful piece from someone who is obviously committed to the message.

Track by Track Review
Reawakened 2020
A funky, bluesy rocking groove brings this into being. Female backing vocals rise up, making me think of the Rolling Stones. As the lead vocals join, it's more of a Tom Petty-like delivery. This is a powerhouse rocker as it grows. The lyrics are very topical. There is a dropped back groove mid-track. Whatever side of the political divide you find yourself on, it's hard to ignore the passion of the song.
