Well, this is Miles Davis. It earns points for that. The video and audio are top-notch – more points. I wasn’t particularly taken by the performances, though. For one thing, this represented a period of Davis’ career that wasn’t my favorite (in terms of the source material) additionally, I felt that the big band – and it’s a huge band – behind him often overshadowed Davis’ performances. That lead to a certain monolithic (and dare I say “often boring”) feeling to a lot of this. Davis didn’t look healthy. He died later that year, so he probably wasn’t. It’s a solid performance from a music master. It’s worth having, but I wasn’t blown away by it.
