INXS

Mystify DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I was never a big fan of INXS, but you can’t deny that they were a killer rock band that never seemed to lose the groove. The main show here was filmed only a few months before the death of Michael Hutchence in 1997. It’s a concert film that’s roughly an hour and a half long and it rocks out very well. The video and audio are both quite good, too. The bonus footage is a roughly twenty five minute show from 1984. The quality on that is also excellent. All in all, if you are a fan of INXS you probably have this on your “must have” list. Those of us not so enamored with the group might be interested in picking it up either way. It makes a good introduction since it captures two very different periods on the group’s history.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2010  Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.
