The Doors

When You’re Strange – A Film about the Doors DVD

Review by Gary Hill

In some ways this documentary parallels Oliver Stone’s film. In some ways it moves past that one, taking a more in-depth look at the other three members of the group. It’s reasonable to guess that Doors fans won’t find this to be perfect. However, it is quite good. I like the little snippets of video footage that are used to tie the documentary pieces together. The clips of the band are quite cool and make this worth having no matter how you feel about the documentary itself. All in all, I’d consider this to be an excellent documentary of the Doors.
