Janis Joplin

Final 24: Her Final Hours DVD

Review by Gary Hill

There’s sort of a bizarre element to this series of DVD’s. Basically they are an attempt to reconstruct the final day of the life of a celebrity. This is accomplished through interviews with those around the person, dramatizations and more. The odd part about it is that there is a morbid fascination inherent here. Still, for fans of the particular person, they do represent a sense of closure. In this particular DVD Janis Joplin’s addiction is explored as she did die from a drug overdose. It’s recommended to fans of Joplin and to those looking to know more about her. Although, if you are interested in her life there are probably better documentaries out there for that purpose.
