Michael Jackson

The Life And Times Of The King Of Pop 1958 – 2009 DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I guess my biggest problem with this DVD is the title. This isn’t really a comprehensive documentary of Michael Jackson’s life at all. Instead it begins with the 911 call and then moves to coverage of the memorial service. After that we get some video of his life, but rather than consider this to be a documentary of his life I’d see it more as a tribute to his life. As such it is heartfelt and warm and has a lot of merit. Sure, there are bits about his life, but in a quick sort of succession taking his life all down to bullet points. Honestly, though, there have to be other documentaries about his life out there. This is something unique. It should have been given a more honest title and it would stand better as a tribute to the “King of Pop”.
