Down the Tracks - The Music That Influenced Bob Dylan DVD

I had a flawed idea of what this DVD would be about. I thought that it would essentially be a collection of vignettes about artists who influenced Bob Dylan. While that would have been cool, what we get is even better. This is a biographical look at Dylan with a strong emphasis on the music that he picked up on while he was in his formative years. We get some great clips from a number of the artists. I suppose the difference between what this is and what I thought it would be is minor - I thought it would be a group of stories about these artists, when instead it is a story of Dylan and, to a lesser degree these artists. This is really a great documentary and sheds a lot of light on some music that is probably not as well known as the output of the man it influenced. I'd recommend this to fans of Bob Dylan, but also to anyone with a thirst to understand the way music grows as it moves from generation to generation.
