Megadeth

The Arsenal of Megadeth DVD

Review by Gary Hill

Well, when it comes to DVD what would you expect from Megadeth. Well, if you answered a MegaDVD, then you are the winner. This thing (it took 2 DVD's to fit everything) is packed full of cool stuff. To start off there are 20 videos here - yes, I said 20! They cover every single album the band have ever released. Now, some bands would have been happy to call it a day after that, but not Megadeth. That's just the start of the whole thing. There are also TV commercials for several of the albums and Rock The Vote clips that make for nice archival material. You get an appearance by Dave Mustaine on the Drew Carey show. They even throw in Marty Friedman's audition. (Granted, this is an Easter egg - to find it you have to press the enter button on your remote when it says 1990 on the first disc.) Megadeth completists will be pleased because a ton of this stuff has never been released before. That includes a lot of interview footage and live concert film. It is a little annoying that they censored out the swearing. Granted, I do it here, but this is a site that is intended to be safe for kids as much as I can keep it so and still get material covered. I suppose the other complaint here is that while there is live footage, it would have been nice to see more of it. Still, the two cuts from the Gigantour were a great addition. End result - this is a very good, and definitely very massive collection of Megadeth material. The fact that so much of it is only available here makes it a must have for Megadeth fanatics. The truth of the matter is, even those of us who fall more into the periphery will enjoy it, though.
