Live at Montreux DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I must confess to never having heard this band before seeing this DVD. Combining funk, pop, disco, R & B and jam band sounds into a killer groove seems to be what these guys do best. The group is a bit odd, both in terms of stage presence and musical form, but it’s a nice oddness. It’s the kind of thing that really endears them to you. I can say that you’ve probably never heard or seen a group quite like this one. You’ll find yourself grooving to the tunes, though. This is cool stuff and well worth picking up. It seems that their music would make it really hard to stay in a bad mood. The sound and video, as with most of these Live at Montreux releases, is great. What a cool DVD!

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2007 Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.
