Eric Anders and Mark O'Bitz

Matterbloomlight (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

I reviewed something from Eric Anders previously, and it didn't land under progressive rock. I'd say that this one fits there. If it were more than one song, that might not hold true, but this number has a lot of folk prog built into it. Eric Anders sings this while Mark O'Bitz provides the guitar. This is a lush and deeply enchanting song. I look forward to more for this duo as they are scheduled to release a full album.

Track by Track Review
Matterbloomlight
Intricate and quite beautiful acoustic guitar brings this into being. The vocals are gentle and effective. They convey emotion, but so does the music. There are intriguing layers of sound over the top that lend a dreamy, proggy quality to this. It's very much a folk prog styled thing, really.
