The Magic Lightnin’ Boys

These guys really manage to bring the classic kind of hard rocking sound and make it their own. At times you’ll likely make out different artists. It ranges from things like funk, to tradition blues and even stoner rock. It all works and it seems to flow together nicely. This is an effective set and one sure to please a wide range of music fans.

Track by Track Review
Mind Funk

The down and dirty funk on this is just plain classic. It’s a high energy tune with part old school funk and part something like Stevie Ray Vaughn mixed with Living Colour. However you label it, though, this really rocks.

Sucker Punch
Serious hard rock with slide guitar blues, this is another classy tune. It has a real Southern rock vibe.
Broken Dream
The harmonica on this brings some old school blues sound. The bass brings it toward funk. Yet, somehow this almost feels like stoner rock to me. It doesn’t matter what you call it, though. Just let it sink into your being and get caught up in the groove.
Gone
Starting with down home, old school blues, this builds into something more like blues rock based stoner metal.
Devil’s Lettuce
Based in similar musical style as the last tune, this has some particularly noteworthy slide guitar work. It’s a real screaming hot number.
Couple Skate
This is a much mellower, slower and more soulful cut. It’s closer to something from 1960s soul artists than any kind of blues rocker.
Stones Throw
A guitar dominated, extended jam, there is a lot of psychedelia along with a lot of blues in this beast. At times it reminds me a bit of Jimi Hendrix. There is some screaming hot guitar soloing built into this.
