Books on Fate

Myth of Trust (single)

Review by Gary Hill

Books on Fate might sound like the name of a band and the music might sound like it’s created by a band, but that’s not true. Books on Fate is actually one guy, Adam Dishart (formerly of the Catholic Comb).  This music is catchy and strong. It lands close to 80s acts like The Smiths and should definitely appeal to fans of that era.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2014  Volume 3 at lulu.com/strangesound.

Track by Track Review
Myth of Trust

Although I’d say that this has some ties to modern progressive rock, it really feels like it could have come out of the 1980s. The arrangement is lush, covered with all kinds of layers of keyboards. Even if you strip that away, though, you’ll still wind up with a powerful and accessible tune that works really well.

Natural Sin Reprise
While the other song was keyboard dominated, the main driver here is acoustic guitar. Yet, it still has plenty of that 1980s vibe. This is another classy tune.
